April Lockhart

April Lockhart was born on July 4 1995 When she was in the seventh grade, she started playing guitar and taking piano classes, which ignited her love for songwriting. In the seventh grade, April began taking guitar and piano lessons. This ignited her interest in songwriting. When she was 14, April spent much time writing songs and honed her music abilities. Then, she began to take trips across NY and LA with her Dad in order for them both compose songs. April featured other topics in her song, Take my Hand. These topics were meant for the friends of hers who struggled issues like peer pressure, disabilities or even teen suicidal thoughts. Lockhart collaborates with the well-known clean beauty brand Ilia and is also a lifestyle blogger with her own growing following. Her birth was without a left hand, and it's an aspect of her identity, but it's hardly her whole story. Lockhart's Twitter profile does not conceal the fact that she is disabled, but neither does it focus on it. What message does it convey? The message is: We all have multiple identities and are way more diverse than we think that we're. I do not want this to determine me. I do not want to be a disability influencer in which I only discuss because there are other elements to my life. Lockhart speaks via video from her home in Nashville. And it doesn't affect my everyday life. I go about things normally, and I've discovered the best way for me to adapt to things. It's an integral element of my life and it's imperative that we talk about it. Self-acceptance is a lifelong marathon but Lockhart truly inspires me for this aspect. She admits that she's been through periods of being uncomfortable with her body at times being unsure about wearing particular types of clothes that showed off her arms. Nowadays, she can wear whatever she'd like. She also posts her pictures to social networks. What makes self-love so appealing to her is the fact that it's not a goal. It's the same for everybody regardless of how much they are afraid. It's essential to have those in your life who know and can relate to you. They'll be the ones to ask what you think about?
