Thunberg uses graphic metaphors to highlight her worries and is often blunt with the political and business elites about the inability of them to collectively take steps. Thunberg's decisive actions began in August 2018. She walked out of school, and put up an announcement that read "School Strike For Climate and calmly was seated outside of the Swedish parliament. The aim was getting politicians' attention in order to tackle the global warming. Swedish media captured Thunbergs protest and word spread. In the weeks that followed many students across the globe took part in Thunberg's #FridaysforFuture movement. Students took Friday off to demonstrate against climate change. Climate activists from across the world coordinated for the Global Strike for Climate. The event was an enormous success. 1.6 million people from more than 125 countries took part.
