My child played around in the playpen as I was working 12-hour shifts, sanding the floor and removing wallpaper. Ha! All was starting to form, but there was still a long way to go. It would take the time, energy, and of course my favourite shopping experience to furnish this house. To stay within the budget, I started taking my kids to estate sales looking for of diamonds. Our routine was to walk around auctions and garage sales on the weekend as well as purchase various of furniture, both new and old created. I'd spend my workdays in the driveway either painting or sanding. The furniture I found looked similar to... this is when my passion to restore furniture was born. Once our home was furnished, I still couldn't give up! There was an area on the market to sell things. Then, I ran out of numerous pieces of furniture to fit into the available space. The house became a venue where I would host open houses. Up to 1000 visitors could see the things on my first floor and purchase the items. Growing Days was created in this home. In addition to my thriving business, I also had the pleasure of growing our family. It was like I had found the perfect balance between being a mum and launching my business. Growing Days just seemed to work. Nora, my 4th kid was born in the year 2013. My business was booming but I wanted a rest. I decided to quit working on my antique furniture for a while and stay home with the kids. It was just what I needed. After a few minutes, my phone began getting busy. There were calls from people asking me for help with interior decor and home renovations. The majority of them visited my home during my furniture open houses. Once I had a few months, I took on clients at my pace. Soon I had several accounts and a home renovations company. When you first spoke to me about my home renovation business I was astonished. Even now, when I reflect on the situation and think about it, I laugh.
